LPG Pipeline and Storage Project Planned in Sarlahi
Nepal Oil Corporation is moving ahead with plans for a cross-border LPG pipeline and large storage facility in Sarlahi to help reduce recurring cooking-gas supply shortages.

SARLAHI, October 26: Nepal is planning a major liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pipeline and storage project in Sarlahi district as part of efforts to improve the country's cooking-gas supply system.
Nepal Oil Corporation is accelerating preparations for the proposed project, which is expected to connect Nepal with the Indian supply network and provide additional storage capacity.
The plan aims to reduce the country's dependence on repeated gas-cylinder transportation and improve the reliability of LPG distribution.
Nepal has frequently faced difficulties maintaining a smooth supply of cooking gas, particularly when transportation or cross-border supply operations are disrupted.
A pipeline-based system could help make the movement of LPG more efficient and provide a stronger storage reserve for periods of high demand.
The proposed facility could also bring infrastructure investment and related economic opportunities to Sarlahi.
However, the project will require detailed planning, investment, land arrangements and coordination between the governments and agencies involved.
