MELAKA: Six Asian countries came together in Malaysia to celebrate their shared cultural heritage through a two-day international festival.
The Cultural Exchange Festival 2026 was held on October 31 and November 1 at the Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum.
Participants from Malaysia, Brunei, China, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand took part in the event.
Organised by Malaysia's Department of National Heritage, the festival aimed to strengthen international cooperation and encourage the preservation of traditional cultural practices.
Visitors enjoyed heritage exhibitions, traditional performances, cultural parades and demonstrations of traditional clothing.
Several important cultural traditions were presented, including the Wangkang Ceremony, Pantun, Kebaya, Chingay and Lion Dance.
The event also provided an opportunity for young people to learn about traditional arts and understand the importance of preserving cultural identity.
Organisers said the festival would help build stronger relationships between participating countries while encouraging future generations to appreciate their cultural heritage.
The event highlighted how traditional customs can connect communities across national borders.
