DHANUSHA, October 26: A revised resettlement plan for the Kamala–Dhalkebar–Bagmati road improvement project has identified 219 private households affected by the proposed expansion.

The 77-kilometre road section passes through Dhanusha, Mahottari and Sarlahi districts and forms part of the Asian Highway-2 network.

According to the revised report published by the Department of Roads, the number of affected households has increased from the earlier estimate.

The project aims to upgrade the existing two-lane road to at least four lanes. In market centres, urban areas and densely populated settlements, the road could be expanded to six lanes with additional service roads.

The project is being implemented under the Strategic Road Network and Trade Improvement Project with financial assistance from the World Bank.

Construction work has already started, and the project is targeted for completion by July 2027.

The improved road is expected to strengthen connectivity between settlements, support transportation and make the movement of goods and passengers more efficient.

However, the revised list of affected households makes proper consultation, compensation arrangements and resettlement support important parts of the project's implementation.
